A number of different cultural events take place throughout the year in Saint-Malo, especially during the summer months - but they are still organised during the low season.

In January and February, the Sainte-Ouine funfair and its various rides take place at the foot of the ramparts to delight children and adults.

In March, two major festivals take place: the "Jazz à l'étage" festival, organised by the Jazz 35 association, brings to the stage the local rising stars while the International Circus Festival of Brittany presents performances from all over the world, featuring the best visual artists.

In April, residents and visitors can enjoy classical music at the Festival "Classique au large", while the Bidouane Tower is transformed into an exhibition gallery for the European Artistic Craft Days.

May hosts the touring festival "La Route des orgues" and the International Literature Festival "Étonnants Voyageurs", which takes place during the Whitsun weekend.

In July, it's time for dance: the World Folklore Festival welcomes dancers from all over the world, who perform throughout the city, indoor and outdoor, as well as in the neighbouring towns.

Every Thursday and Sunday in July and August, the Saint-Vincent Cathedral hosts the concerts of the Festival of Sacred Music, while the world of rock music reigns at the Fort Saint-Père (in the evening) and on the Bon Secours beach (during the day) during the famous rock festival "la Route du Rock"(in August).

October is the month for comics fans, as the French Comics Festival (second biggest in the world) - "le Quai des Bulles" - takes place.
